The Kickoff Meeting of the INITIATE-DN doctoral network took place on October 31st 2025 at the University of Bergen. It was led by Ritske Huismans (University of Bergen) and Delphine Rouby (CNRS-GET-UPS). The team went over the main organization topics, the PI's (Bodo Bookhagen- University of Potsdam, Magdalena Scheck-Wenderoth- GFZ, Mauro Cacace - GFZ, Josep Anton Muñoz -University of Barcelona, Hui Tang – GFZ, Delphine Rouby, Ritske Huismans) presented the individual PhD projects and discussed the synergy between these projects. The doctoral candidate projects cover (1) short-term geohazards including landslides and debris flows and (2) the prediction of erosion and accumulation patterns, sedimentary basin stratigraphic architecture and associated fluid flow) for rift and orogen settings at intermediate- and long-time scales (1-100 Myrs). The next step in the first training in Bergen in March 2025 that will provide the doctoral candidates with training in entrepreneurship and 3D subsurface data interpretation.
