The first Summer School of INITIATE is taking place in Tremp (Southern Pyrenees) hosted at the Institut Cartographic i Geologic de Catalunya for 2 weeks. Thank you for the warm welcome! 

Some of the highlights so far: 

• The first lecture of the INITIATE SummerSchool was given by Ritske S. Huismans: everything you need to know about heat, rheology and isostasy for geodynamics modelling 

• Josep Anton Muñoz guided an afternoon geologic and hydro geologic exploration between Tremp and Rivert

• Elco Luijendijk and Mauro Carace introduced INITIATE DCs to hydrogeology and played a serious game of being a hydrogeology consultant for the village of Rivert after observing the resurgence yesterday

• Hui Tang introduced the physics of debris flows 

• Delphine Rouby introduced INITIATE DCs to the study of Sediment Routing Systems and Source to Sink analysis 

• Jean Braun introduced the Surface Process Modelling in a very hands-on workshop 

• Jean Braun and Josep Anton Muñoz lead a fantastic afternoon following the El Flamissel river all the way up to the mountains

• Xavier Mir Pellicer, scientific coordinator of our partner the Geoparc Orìgens, joined us to take us through the glacier dynamics in the area and the associated moraines

• Bodo Bookhagen introduced the INITIATE DCs to DEM analysis
